Participatory sing-along events to belt out Christmas carols together

What is a carol sing-along? +
Most of them follow a simple, welcoming format - you gather, sing carols together for 45 minutes to an hour, then coffee and cookies and conversation. Some events have a special twist - like the Lessons and Carols service where singing carols together is woven in between Bible readings telling the Christmas story.
What do you get out of a sing-along? +
You'll experience three big things. First - they're FUN! There's something joyful about being in a room full of people belting out 'Jingle Bells' and 'Deck the Halls' together. Then there's the warm hospitality of the host communities and being IN the music rather than just watching a performance.

Carol sing-alongs are participatory events—not concerts. At least 50% of the program is dedicated to everyone singing together vs. watching performers.

Lessons and Carols originated in Cornwall, England in 1880 and became world-famous through King's College Cambridge.

  • • @ Lessons & Carols you're part of the Christmas story, not just watching it unfold
  • • This event was renewed after the collective trauma of World War I to help people reconnect & rebuild community

Emmanuel United Church Choir presents a celebration of Christmas lessons and carols featuring a 60-voice choir (Emmanuel United Church Choir and Friends + Windsor Essex Youth Choir) and 5-piece ensemble. Music Director Nicholas Morvay leads an evening of music to fill you with the Christmas spirit, including some sing-along carols. Suggested donation $15 per person at the door.

About This Guide

After years of carol sing-along filled Decembers in Edmonton, I wondered if similar experiences were available in Windsor too. This guide is proof the answer is YES! I'm looking forward to singing along and co-creating some Christmas cheer with you. ~ Steve Grubich
